SAFETY FIRST - Quietly as Possible
Agua Dulce Airport is required to implement and publish the following conditions required by Los Angeles County as authorized in Supplemental Use Permit No. 1404-(5):
The Helicopter Arrival/Departure Zone at Agua Dulce Airport is located on either side of the windsock (mid-field), adjacent to the runway.
Arriving helicopters should fly to the Helicopter Arrival/Departure Zone and then hover taxi to their hangar or transient parking area. Departing flights should hover taxi to the Helicopter Arrival/Departure Zone and then depart the airport.
For arrivals and departures, please see Figure 1 at the bottom of this page. Arriving helicopters have the option of using the standard fixed wing approach, or using the “shortened” pattern shown on Figure 1. Helicopters should use the same departure pattern as fixed wing.
In order to reduce noise levels on approach, pilots are encouraged to fly at as high an altitude as practical and safe and descend to the designated arrival/departure zone as rapidly as possible in a safe manner.
Upon departure, climb-out speeds should be about 10 knots below the speed for maximum rate of climb.
In general, pilots should maintain as high an altitude as is practical when passing over noise sensitive areas. Helicopters should be operated so as to minimize the amount of time over populated areas.
Please note the following web site for suggestions from the Manufacturer’s Recommended Noise Abatement Procedures. Please go to www.rotor.com to access these procedures for specific helicopter makes and models.
These measures
are recommended practices in an effort to reduce sound levels. In all cases,
safety and air traffic control instructions take precedence.
